Six free apps that make a budget phone feel faster

• A lightweight launcher that cuts animation time.
• A storage analyser that finds big videos.
• A data saver for mobile browsing.
• A notes app that works offline.
• A calendar with a weekly agenda widget.
• A battery log that shows which apps drain power.

All six are free and show no ads in the demo versions we tested.

The launcher cuts animation time and removes unused icons. The battery log showed a shopping app waking the phone 400 times a night in our test.

We tested each app for ads, permissions and battery impact before recommending it.

This is a demo story: every name, place, organisation and figure in it is fictional.
